Guhan Krishnan is a policy activist deeply involved in criminal justice reform with a focus on the American juvenile system. He has experience crafting, and lobbying for, legislation at all levels of government and is very active in non-profit work. As a policy consultant with the National Juvenile Justice Network (NJJN), he was responsible for drafting policies and presenting them to Senior White House and Department of Justice officials. Currently a public policy major at Stanford University, Guhan hopes to pursue a career in the field of law one day.
He began his journey as a juror serving on the Hamilton County Youth Court, where he led the bench as the jury captain. During his four years of service, he gained a unique insight into the criminal justice system and the structural failings that foster recidivism and the school-to-prison pipeline.
He partnered with Glenda A. Smith to create Yes4Ohio, a nonprofit preventative program for Ohio’s at-risk youth. This work, along with his policy internship at the Cincinnati mayor's office, gave Guhan a strong policy backing and established his love for the law.
PromNotPrison is an independent initiative that cumulates his work in the juvenile justice field. Through collaboration with the local court system, police, public defenders, and fellow teens, PromNotPrison exists to end the cycle of innocent mistakes that lead to serious legal consequences.
